Los Angeles-based flutist Joanne Lazzaro and her Global Music Award Silver Medal-winning ensemble Dreamcatcher have honored the genius of American composer Katherine Hoover with a sumptuous world premiere recording of Hoover's 1999 masterpiece Canyon Shadows. The five-movementl musical narrative, crafted with consummate audio fidelity and magical realist coloration by the ensemble, is a heady conflation of Native American and modern tonalities punctuated by percussive elements both ancient and contemporary.
